Long time Amazon user, first time guitar player... This guitar is the love of my life (behind the real people in my life). If you are planning to learn guitar, and are unsure of your commitment, this is the place to start. This is NOT the last guitar you will own. The important thing is, it is an adequate quality instrument suitable for a beginner. If you are learning to play golf, unless you are rich, you probably don't buy a set of Pings first thing. This guitar set costs less than two cable/internet bills (that's my new standard on everything I rate on Amazon). Fall in love with the guitar - don't neglect the people who hear you practice. In two years, buy a better Fender, a Yamaha, or Martin (above my pay grade). Have been thinking about having the action adjusted (might even DIY it in a few months), because factory settings keep the strings pretty high off the fret board. Experienced guitar folks say this is an issue on virtually any mass-produced guitar - not unique to FA-100.

Update: After playing this for three months, some advice which probably echos what others have said:
Strings, Action, Setup: Finally took mine to a local music store. They greatly improved the action level (that is, getting the strings lower to the fretboard). That required quite a bit of saddle height adjustment. Apparently, FA-100s have rather wide variability coming from the factory when it comes to action level. Also, they replaced the stock medium gauge strings with light gauge strings. Both things dramatically improved playability - a big deal for a beginner like myself. Now my chords sound much better, and some chords which I found nearly impossible with the stock setup are much more achievable.

Aesthetics: Finish on the body is very good. Finish on the neck is adequate at a distance but rather poor up close. In this price range, I think that's perfectly acceptable.

Lastly, the gig bag is pretty weak. It barely gets the job done. Plan to replace with inexpensive hard shell soon.

It's not like a luthier made this, definitely a factory in China, but you'll be surprised with how nice this plays. This guitar is probably best for a new guitar student. Not really adequate for a serious performance, but I'm pleasantly surprised as just my at-home practice/jamming guitar. It came with no damage and was well-packed. Sounds pretty and fills a small to mid-sized room. The tuner and accessories are budget, but work just fine. I wouldn't mess-around with the guitar using the strap it came with - not really too reliable, and the gig-bag is a little light, but you expect that from a package priced this low. The important thing is the guitar is clean, made well enough, has nice action, and I can't really find any major issues.

This package is amazing. I'm going to break up each item individually so here I go:

FENDER FA-100

Appearance:
The guitar itself is superb. It's laminated back and front looks absolutely stunning. The headstock is breaktakingly-shiny. Tuning keys are easy to use, just overall a gorgeous guitar.

Sound:
The Fender FA-100's sound is awesome. I've played $500 acoustic guitars that don't even sound this good. It has very nice sustain and the bone saddle and nut adds a nice crisp sound to this beautiful instrument.

Cons:
The pick guard is great; but when I received it the lamination was peeling off along the edges. You can't tell unless you look up close.

"FENDER" TUNER

Heads up people! The "Fender" tuner that comes in this package is not a fender-brand tuner. It's actually a Snark Electronic Clip-on Tuner (blue.) Personally, I like it even better then the fender one (I have used it before.) It's display is very vibrant, showing great neon colors. It easily picks up the vibrations when tuning. I was first disappointed that I didn't get the Fender one, but now actually using the guitar with the tuner, I couldn't have asked for anything better.

FENDER PICKS

When I order this package, I got some extra Planet Waves picks (10 pack) with it. However, as good as the planet waves picks are, the fender one's were much better. I got three green ones. I like the amount of flex, it's perfect; not too flexy and not too stiff (hence the term "medium.")

"FENDER" STRAP

Again, the strap I got was NOT Fender brand, it was a planet waves strap. I'm disappointed with this, because I really wanted a Fender strap. But a straps a strap, and this one works fine.

STRINGS

I haven't broken a string yet so I haven't had to replace one yet. But upon first glance I could tell that they weren't the same ones that came on the guitar. But they are Fender brand none the less, so I'm thankful.

OVERALL

This was my first acoustic guitar. Personally, I love it. It's a great guitar for beginners and experts alike. I'm very satisfied (even though there were some errors) and for the price, I highly recommend that you buy this guitar!

Just got it i am an amateur player i can play not professional but already had couple guitars i tune it in minutes at first tuning you have to know even a new set of strings need to be tuned few times ok? But the sound of this guitar is AMAZING woww like i said just got it tonite tuned it and played for while love it the carrying case is just a normal soft case as specified in the order i saw the same guitar with hard case for much more money so i pick this one is just fine and i saw on a review that someone said was not a fender case or fender strap well did not said in the order what brand it was but i shop around for guitar and let me tell you this guitar is well worth the price so getting this soft case and straps too and tuner and extra set of strings only those items worth half the price you pay for this guitar and after playing several guitars i can finish telling all you this is the best thing i ever buy i was shocked when i start checking the guitar and play it love it i saw something alike that was over 500$ so for this price wowwwww and free delivery was going to be in almost a week from now and i got it in less than 48 hours for free delivery what else can i said about this company? Only this that if i need any other musical instrument this will be the company i will consider for sure

I played for many years (teens through college) but fell off a bit when the real world hit. One day recently, I decided I wanted to pick the guitar back up. I begn looking for an acoustic guitar that wouldn't break my wallet that I could relearn on. I was always a fan of Fender so when I came across this on Amazon, I was pumped! After receiving permission from the little lady to buy it, I placed the order and anxiously awaited my new doorway back into bloody fingers and Smoke On The Water. Visions of playing outside downtown with an open case inviting money of various denominations ran through my vivid imagination.

As soon as it came, I fell in love! I tuned it up (came with strings loosened for shipping) and started picking. The sound is warm, clear, and surprisingly good considering the price I paid. The finish is flawless (went with all black), the strings are good enough for what I'm doing (swithing to Ernie Ball once these run their course), and it feels like a much better guitar than I paid for. I even had my instrument-afficianado brother play and he was very impressed with the quality and said I had gotten a great guitar. The gig bag included is a bit thin, but does exactly what I assumed it would. I have had no problems with the tuner that came included. It came with extra strings and a couple picks.

Conclusion: I want to say that this is a good beginner's guitar, but that would be a disservice to this instrument. It fits nicely next to my Ibanez RG450 and 1988 Takamine. Not to mention, it says Fender on the head! So instead of (a perceived) lesser quality Squire in the company of my other instruments, I have a respected brand that does not seem like it doesn't belong. Whether you're looking for a beginning instrument or are a veteran musician looking to add to their collection, buy this guitar! You won't regret it.

I haven't played guitar for a couple of years, and figured that the best way to get back into the swing of things was to pick up a package like this. While the sound of the instrument is good, everything that is advertised came with the guitar, it is cheaply made. The pick guard on the body of the guitar is a sticker. I thought that it was one of those laminate deals that is there to protect the body of the guitar in transit... but it was just a sticker cut in the shape of the pick guard. Oh well, the strings are good. So is the sound. I will get as much enjoyment out of this as I can, until I have to buy a new one. Then I will invest the money needed to get a decent instrument.

It's a Fender, so that means it's good, right? Had to do some minor tuning but that is normal for any guitar. I am just trying to learn to play, so I am no expert on quality, but a friend of mine who has been playing since he was barely old enough to hold a guitar says it feels great to him, and sounds pretty darn good. At least it does when I'm not playing it (because I don't know how. yet!) :P

I am a beginner with the guitar. This guitar is very easy to play sounds great. I have had problems with other guitars hurting my fingers when I play. I'm not a professional but I would highly recommend this guitar. My husband who has played guitar when he was younger said this guitar has great sound. My only suggestion for the company is to ship the guitar in the bag it comes with since my guitar came broke. I did have to send it back and they did send me a replacement very quickly.

I've had this for a few days now. One thing to know is that the guitar came pre-strung, and had an extra pack of strings. So that's a bonus. Starting at the outside working in, the guitar came in sturdy packaging. Dual layers of heavy corrugated cardboard protected the sensitive areas. There was a small tear at one spot but it didn't even get through the outer layer of cardboard. So, box is good. Pulling out the guitar, I have to say that it is gorgeous! The finish is incredible. It looks way better than a buck fifty guitar. It also came pre-strung, and had an extra set of strings in the box. About ten minutes after the guitar was delivered, I was tuning it with the included electronic tuner. I'll say that it sounds good, but I probably should phrase it as "It sounds good for a beginner guitar." But I'll leave it at that. I do know woodworking, though, and I have to emphasize that the craftsmanship is better than the 150 price tag would make you think you're getting. I'm extremely happy with it.

The guitar bag. It's good quality, padded, sturdy, but there are no pockets or anything to hold your kit. But again, for $150? It's a darn good bag. know that you'll need a small pouch or something to hold your stuff (the extra strings, your picks, your capo and string wrench/winder that you eventually buy, etc.)

Finally, it's made in China, if that matters to you. I couldn't find manufacturing origin anywhere on the item's listing, so I'll let you know here. But again, you're getting a decent guitar for an incredibly affordable price.

As said in many reviews... this is a good starter, full sized, acoustic guitar.
Arrived with about a 1/4" warp which I soon fixed with the hex wrench that came with the guitar. Note: Be careful and insert hex until seated as the metal could be easily stripped.
I also took the saddle down a little over 1/16", removing the saddle and sanding off the bottom in small steps.
How 2's can be found on Google.
It now has good action for my amateur style.
Good bright sound. Well worth the cost.
