Comments / reviews:
My son really got used to using Wii U Pro controllers with the Wii U. He likes the Wii U Pro controller a lot and I found a controller on clearance so I didn't care much that he got his grimy. Grimy controllers are one of my pet peeves. But now that we have the switch, my son always want to use my Switch Pro controller. I don't want to pay for another Switch Pro controller, but he's already gotten my Switch Pro controller gross once! This solved all my problems. He now can use the Wii U Pro controller and I can have the Switch Pro controller all to myself!

It's not perfect. It does have some pros and cons. Here they are:

Pros:
-lets me use a Wii U Pro controller or a Wiimote, or a PS3 controller, or a PS4 controller with my Switch. (one controller at a time per 8Bitdo adapter)
-sync was easy--press the button on the 8bitdo adapter and then press the sync button on the Wii U Pro controller. It's slightly different for other controllers except for PS3 (see cons).
-Just works. I've had zero issues playing games this way. It does not seem to add lag or any other issues.

Cons:
-pairing a PS3 controller requires a windows or mac computer and a program from the 8Bitdo website (included in the firmware download). It works, but it takes work.
-can't turn the Switch on when the Switch is asleep in the dock. The home button on a real Switch controller will turn on the docked Switch but no buttons on a controller connected to the 8Bitdo receiver wake the Switch up.
-no rumble except for PS4 controllers for some reason
-no motion controls except with a PS4 controller. (This is sometimes expected since the Wii U controller doesn't have motion controls built in).
-can only use in dock mode. Well, actually I tried with a USB-C to USB adapter in portable mode and it works, but you'll need a stand or something and you can't plug in your battery charger. I also assume it will affect battery life, but I assume not too much. (I won't be testing because I won't be using it in docked mode)
-no manual except the barest instructions on the back of the box. It at least should tell you to go to their website for the full manual!

Concerns:
-I've had no problems with the adapter interfering with Switch controllers, but it is a a bluetooth adapter when the Switch connects to the official controllers with bluetooth too. I'm thinking about getting a second 8Bitdo adapter, but I wonder when too much bluetooth interference might cause problems.

I know I'm not saying it's the most amazing thing ever, but it really does solve a problem and make controllers I already have useful with the Switch. So I'm really happy with it. I don't care about motion controls and I can live without rumble. As far as actually working with the controllers, it's perfect. I really do suggest this as a way to get controllers working with your switch.

It synced perfectly with my Dualshock 4. Just a reminder people. You need to enable Pro Controller/Wired Controller in the settings on the Switch. To sync, click and hold the sync button on the adapter, and then click and hold the Share+Playstation Home buttons (At the same time) on the Dualshock. Once the controller stops flashing and is paired, it turns blue. They didn't include the instructions due to copyright (I'm assuming). It works beaitifuly. The gyro in the Dualshock 4 is excellent in Breath of the Wild and Splatoon 2. I'm very satisfied with this adapter and highly recommend it.

Cons: With PC it doesn't have all the functionality with a DS4 controller than my old bluetooth pairing solution offered (adjustable lights, and touch screen support). I just downloaded the latest firmware and it purports to address a disconnect issue I was having with my DS4 on the Switch. Testing it now but given how diligently these folks support their products, I'm not too concerned.
Pros: This is a killer product at a great price. Multi-controller support would be nice but oh well, maybe in an update. The ability to use a PS4 controller (my favorite controller of all time) is amazing and cost-effective when looking at other Switch controller options (ProController). The added benefit of easy plug-n-play with the PC (and android devices) is also very nice.

There are a few features that one could point out as lacking, but for the price, this is a must have for any Switch owner with the slightest desire to expand their controller options.

Updated firmware for both the adapter and 8bitdo FC30 Pro but haven't been able to sync when the USB is connected to a Retro Freak. Sent email to 8bitdo support but haven't heard back yet.

Update: 8bitdo Support provided additional instructions and posted a youtube video detailing the correct procedure:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XtD2zGPiwQs

1. Plug adapter into console
2. Press POWER to turn on your controller.
3. Press both PAIR buttons on the receiver and controller to sync them.
4. Both LEDs on the receiver and controller will become solid when they are successfully paired.
[Additional Steps since at this point it seems like both are synced but the controller doesn't function]
5. Hold Left on DPAD and Select for 3 seconds, Receiver blinks and then becomes solid
6. Success!

With my RasPi and Tinkerboard, I noticed the on-board bluetooth as well utilizing small form factor usb bluetooth (on both devices) always had lag. This was evident in testing Tony Hawk Pro Skater using an 8bitdo SF30 Pro controller in both wired and wireless (bluetooth mode).

I decided to get this because it's a dedicated receiver with input latency in mind. Pairing is a snap and latency is basically gone now. Retropie and Android OS detects the controllers perfectly too.

My friends come over to play Rocket League on the Switch, and now they can all use PS4 Controllers! Instead of those small half controllers. Love it.
Get a USB splitter & multiple of these adapters if you need to hook up multiple controllers. It's one controller per USB adapter.

Pros: Good product, works as advertised, great support (quick firmware updates across their products)
Cons: No Xbox controller support ("yet", according to their customer support.)

Works with the old WiiU pro controller after a firmware update. Without the update there's ghost input from the control stick.

Love that I can have so many controller options!

Works great on Windows 10. I was unable to pair any 8Bitdo controllers onto Windows 10 via standard Bluetooth dongles, but this one worked instantly and synced up the controller with no problems.
